NEW HOMES, CUSTOM BUILT, HELENA VALLEY FEATURE PG 48
FIRST TIME BUILDING PROVES TO BE A PLEASENT EXPERIENCE
- Maya Anderson
Not everyone who builds a home is lucky enough to say it was an enjoyable building experience. But when Catherine and Darren Clohesy decided to build for the first time, all went harmoniously -giving them a beautiful, timeless family home.
Mr and Mrs Clohesy, who live with their teenage sons Jarrad and Justin, previously lived on land in Maida Vale but wanted to downsize to a fifth of a hectare block in Helena Valley. The Clohesy’s asked boutique building company Rosmond Homes to design and build their new home with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, study, theatre and games room.
“We really knew what we wanted and from our brief Rosmond Homes came up with a design which is pretty much exactly what we have now,” Mrs Clohesy said.
“It was quite smooth other than tweaking little things like power points.” “We’re entertainers so we like open-plan living and we also like that the main suite is separate to the boys area.” Mrs Clohesy said she and her husband were thrilled with the work of Rosmond Homes.
“They were really good, we were very happy,” she said. “They were very one-on-one when it came to dealing with you, so approachable and easy to communicate with.”
“We could discuss anything with them.”
“Their service was really great, very personalised.”
Completed last May, the home took eight months to build. Rosmond Homes sales and design manager Frank Bonannella said the home had numerous special features. “This home has been identified by neighbours and tradesmen that have worked on it as the bestbuilt and best-looking home they have seen in the area,” he said.
Big windows and double sliding doors open on to the big back garden, which has a pool and a wide expanse of perfectly manicured lawn, supplied and installed by Westland Turf.
The Clohesys required a triple garage and access to their work shed at the read or the garden. The garage had higher-than-usual ceilings to accommodate boats and trucks. The work shed was by Highline. The windows make the most of the garden outlooks.
Mrs Clohesy said she was very happy with the service from Chelsea Décor which supplied and installed the window treatments.
The homes ducted reverse-cycle airconditioning was by Winton Air Conditioning.
The house is surrounded by plenty of garden. Swan Limestone built the limestone walls and the water feature for the backyard pool while Signature Limestone did the poured limestone paving.
